Stroke Rehab

Those affected by strokes are frequently significantly impaired in their ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs). Whether the stroke affected a client’s hands, legs, brain function, or some combination of the three, in-home care is available to help avoid premature admission to nursing facilities. Abcor Home Health is proud to employ a variety of caring and highly-qualified caregivers to help Chicagoland residents cope with their post-stroke difficulties.

Caring for those who have had a stroke can cause emotional, mental, and physical stress for both the stroke survivor and the family member or friend who tries to function as caregiver. The survivor may be embarrassed at their loved ones witnessing their decreased capabilities, while it may be difficult for the caregiver to see this as well. Disruption of previous employment and family life makes caregiving a huge challenge. This is why many opt for professional caregivers like those at Abcor. Alternatively, if the family is insistent on providing care to their loved ones, Abcor is able to employ family caregivers through the Illinois Department on Aging’s Community Care Program.

Either way, give us a call at one of our 4 Chicago home health office locations to see how Abcor can help you or your loved ones.
